James Wolfe Road & Hollow Way DTC Approach
James Wolfe Road and Hollow Way are used on every route - all 21 tests navigate this corridor at both the start and end. Hollow Way has its own roundabout used in multiple directions, and traffic light junctions at adjacent crossings require careful lane discipline. The final right turn back into James Wolfe Road is a common point of error - signal clearly and do not cut the corner.

Horspath Driftway & Eastern Bypass Roundabouts
Horspath Driftway and the Eastern Bypass roundabouts are used on 17 routes and form the main link between the DTC and both the northern and southern bypass networks. Roundabouts here are approached at higher speeds from the bypass and require confident lane positioning and timely signalling. Routes use the Eastern Bypass in both directions, sometimes exiting onto it and returning via it within the same test.

The Slade, Old Road & Windmill Road - Headington Area
The Slade, Old Road, and Windmill Road are used on 11 routes each in the Headington residential area north-east of the DTC. This section involves closely spaced residential junctions, traffic lights on Windmill Road, and a roundabout on The Slade. Roads here are narrower in places - parked vehicles can reduce visibility, so observe well ahead and reduce speed accordingly.

Between Towns Road, Cowley Road & Oxford Road Town Network
Between Towns Road, Cowley Road, and Oxford Road form the busy town network used on eight to nine routes. Roundabouts on Cowley Road and Newman Road are approached from multiple directions depending on the test. This is one of the highest-traffic sections - pedestrians, cyclists, and buses all use Cowley Road heavily, so maintain a wide observation arc and anticipate stops early.

Garsington Road, Sandford Link & Southern Bypass Arc
Garsington Road, the Sandford Link, and the Southern Bypass roundabouts are used on seven routes forming a southern arc from the DTC. Multiple roundabouts connect these roads in sequence - some routes use the Sandford Link in both directions within a single test. Entry and exit from the Eastern Bypass here requires decisive lane selection and early signalling; avoid hesitating at the roundabout approach.
