Early Roundabout Decisions

You’ll face multiple mini and full roundabouts almost straight after leaving the test centre, especially along Bispham Road, Bristol Avenue, and Redbank Road. Treat each one individually, approach in the correct gear, and clearly signal your intentions.

Fast Roads and Tight Residentials

Amounderness Way or Fleetwood Road, involve faster-paced driving with roundabouts and lane changes, while Knowle Avenue or Mossbourne Avenue, are narrower and present different hazards. Adjust your speed and observation accordingly.

Lane Changes

Expect to navigate traffic light junctions where the lanes split - like along Warbreck Hill Road or Warren Drive. Stay calm, read the road signs and lane markings, and position yourself so you don’t get caught in the wrong lane too late.

Loopbacks

Many routes include loopbacks - such as Redbank Road or Warren Drive. Don’t let familiarity cause complacency as roads can often feel very different, and provide new challenges when driving the other way.
